Tamiya 1/25 Enzo Ferrari

This kit was biult for my column, "The Model Kit Report" in Hobby Merchandiser Magazine.
What a fantastic adventure it was!!I had not built a car kit like this in years. It was one of the best modeling adventures I have had in a long time.
A highly detailed kit with spectacular fit and precision tooling, the Tamiya Enzo gives you a peak at something legendary. The gloss finish alone was a great challenge.

Here we see the 18 parts that get the exterior finish in the process of getting the exterior finish. Some Parafilm masking was required. I also used the masks for the windows that Tamiya provided. Those worked very well.
The finish is Createx Auto Air Gem Turquoise over Model Master Acryl Gloss Black. Airbrush of choice was an Iwata Eclipse HP-CS.
The color coat was sealed with two coats of Model Master Acryl Clear Gloss and buffed with Micromesh polishing cloths.

The level of detail was remarkable. Lots of parts in the engine and the engine compartment. The front and rear suspension parts are there, too, along with steering and cooling.
Thanks to the opening doors and boot, much of that detail was still visible on the finished kit.
Tamiya provided carbon-fiber pattern decal sheet for composite parts of the frame. You had to cut each piece from the sheet. That was lots of fun!
The car is like an F-1 racer with a passenger seat.

Thanks to the folks at Iwata and Tamiya for making this build possible. Thanks also to Jeff Troy at Hobby Merhcandiser.
